Už od raného dětství jsem byl fascinován střelbou. Když jsem střílel z luku nebo foukačky, jsem vždycky věnoval značnou pozornost konstrukci terče a pozorování jeho následné destrukce. Tato práce na tuto fascinaci navazuje.
V krabici je socha Válečníka ostřelována dálkově ovládanou zbraní. Divák sedí venku, dění uvnitř krabice vidí na obrazovce, která mu ukazuje záznam kamery namontované na zbrani. Situace tak připomíná drony a stále narůstající využití kamer na moderním bojišti. Jak poznamenává Paul Virilio ve své esej Válka a Film, pro Válečníka je funkcí zbraně funkcí oka. Dálkově ovládaná zbraň tak symbolizuje industrializaci války, zatímco socha Válečníka je romantický pohled na ní, který byl celospolečensky zpochybněn po nesmyslných jatkách první světové války, v knihách jako Na Západní frontě klid a Válka válce. Zároveň je socha postavena takovým způsobem, že její destrukce přináší uspokojení a forenzní zkoumání poškození je fascinující aférou. Tak jako v mém dětství.

Ever since childhood, I have been interested in shooting. When shooting a bow or a blowgun, I always paid a lot of attention to the construction of the target and observing its subsequent destruction. My final work is thus the continuation of this.
In a box a statue of a Warrior is shot at by a viewer remote controlled weapon. The viewer sits outside the box and thus the stream from the camera mounted on the gun is the only way to observe the Warrior, reminiscent of drones and the ever increasing usage of camera technologies in warfare. As Paul Virilio notes in his essay War and Cinema, for the warrior, the function of the eye is the function of the weapon. The remote controlled weapon thus symbolizes the industrialization of warfare, while the statue of the Warrior is the romantic view of it, which was critically questioned after the senseless butchery of World War one, in books like All quiet on the Western Front or Krieg dem Kriege. Still, the statue is built in such a way that it´s destruction brings satisfaction and the forensic examination of the damage is a fascinating endeavor. Just as it was in my childhood.
